Stotz Racing competition
report: 2006 AMA/Prostar Series, Gainesville Raceway
Honda Rider’s Club of
America-sponsored Stotz Racing concluded the 2006 AMA/Prostar
Pro Street Championship Series at the eighth and final round in
Gainesville, Fla., November 4-5 with a semi-final appearance.
“This is usually a horsepower track and we qualified with
a 7.595 ET at 191.51 miles-per-hour,” said Stotz of his
run on the turbocharged 550-horsepower CBR1100XX. “Then
a 7.54 was enough to get us into the semis but we spun the tire
at the line and weren’t able to advance to the final. While
I’m disappointed that we didn’t win a championship
this year, we know what it takes to win a title and we will be
back next year with our strongest program yet.”
In Pro Street competition this year, the four-time AMA/Prostar
champion has qualified first at two rounds, made the finals in
three and won one race. At the same time he has simultaneously
developed a completely new racing platform, the Honda CBR1000RR,
the only liter-bike currently in the class. “The new RR
continues to improve, in fact we ran consistent 750s in the Wednesday
and Thursday test sessions in Gainesville,” said Stotz.
“We have worked closely with our sponsors all year long
to develop the kind of power that will make this bike competitive
and, with our winter development program, we will be ready for
the first round in 2007.”
Stotz Racing’s sponsors are an extremely important
part of the team’s overall success. “I tip my helmet
to each of them, they have stepped up whenever we needed them
to help us and that says a lot about their character.”
