Racing reaches final at AMA/Prostar Atco National
Atco, N.J. – Kent Stotz arrived at the seventh round of
the 2006 AMA/Prostar Drag Racing Championship at Atco Raceway
in Atco, New Jersey, September 9-10 with both barrels loaded.
His two-time championship winning Honda Rider’s Club of
America-sponsored CBR1100XX and an all-new Stotz Racing Honda
CBR1000RR were both capable of taking the win in the Pro Street
Class final of the 40th Annual Orient Express U.S. Motorcycle
Nationals.
In Friday night’s test and tune session, team owner Kent
Stotz put the turbocharged, 440-horsepower CBR1000RR—the
first liter bike in the class—through its paces and logged
a very respectable 7.62-second ET at 192 mph. “Thanks to
the support of our sponsor Velocity Racing Turbo Systems, we are
putting some incredible, reliable power to the ground with both
bikes,” said Stotz. “Our lightweight advantage with
the CBR1000RR was negated to some degree by the superb surface
traction available to the bigger bikes in Fridays test session,
and it just made sense to run the XX on Saturday and Sunday.”

The CBR1100XX did not disappoint, qualifying forth and taking
Stotz all the way to the finals on Sunday. “We got the holeshot
and led at the all-important 60-foot mark, but an air line melted
and our ultra-reliable Pingel Air Shifter was useless at that
point,” said Stotz.
Stotz Racing is ready for the Gainesville finals in November.
“Star Racing has done the cylinder-head work and motor preparation
for both of our bikes and Pro Honda Oils and Chemicals gives us
the very best lubricants to keep these engines alive under the
strain of 30 psi of turbo boost,” said Stotz. “I also
want to thank Schaumburg Honda, our hometown Honda dealer, for
express-shipping us some crucial parts late in the week.”
Stotz Racing will appear next at Milan Dragway in Michigan for
an exhibition of the top Pro Street bikes at Race Warz II, September
22-24—expect major cable television and drag racing magazine
coverage of this exciting event. One week later the team will
appear in a NHRA Sport Compact Racing Series motorcycle drag racing
exhibition in conjunction with the 5th annual NHRA Sport Compact
Fallnationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, Englishtown,
N.J., September 30 – October 1.
