Stotz
Racing ties Pro Street ET record at AMA Prostar Indianapolis National
Stotz Racing was in peak form at round six of the 2006 AMA Prostar
Drag Racing Championship, tying the Pro Street ET record and setting
a new “official” 1/8-mile top speed record at the
Pingel Thunder Motorcycle Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway
Park, August 12-13.
Riding the Honda Rider’s Club of America-sponsored CBR1100XX
that carried him to two national championships, team owner Kent
Stotz clicked off a 7.33 ET in the first round of qualifying,
the fastest Pro Street ET of the weekend. He also set the official
1/8-mile top speed class record of 157.90 mph.
“We qualified number one and set the low ET of every round
leading up to the semi-final,” said Stotz, a four-time AMA/Prostar
champion. “The track got hotter with each pass and we spun
the tire in the semi, which effectively took us out of contention.”

Nevertheless, Stotz was enthusiastic about the performance of
his turbocharged, 550-plus horsepower Honda. “It’s
no secret that we are developing the Honda CBR1000RR to win this
class in 2007. To come in here and do so well on our trusty CBR1100XX
tells you how reliable the Honda is, and I just can’t say
enough about our sponsor support. Our Pingel shifter shaves time
off of our ET and, thanks to Joe Rocket and Scorpion Helmets,
we come to every race outfitted like champions.”
Stotz Racing will appear next at round seven of the AMA/Prostar
series at Atco Raceway, New Jersey for the 40th annual U.S. Motorcycle
Nationals, September 9-10.
Then the team moves on to Milan Dragway in Michigan for an exhibition
of the top Pro Street bikes at Race Warz II, September 22-24—expect
major cable television and drag racing magazine coverage of this
exciting event. For the latest information about Stotz Racing,
