Stotz Racing Tops the
Charts at Spring Nationals: HRCA-Sponsored CBR1000RR sets AMA/Prostar
Pro Street ET Record, Stotz Leads the Series
Four-time national motorcycle drag racing champion Kent Stotz
surged into the lead of the 2007 AMA/Prostar Pro Street Drag Racing
Championship this past weekend after a record-setting performance
on the Honda Rider’s Club of America (HRCA)-sponsored Stotz
Racing CBR1000RR at the Spring Nationals at Virginia Motorsports
Park, April 28-29.
Stotz came into the third round of the AMA/Prostar series with
the quickest Pro Street liter bike in the field when he set an
ET of 7.47 seconds at Valdosta earlier in March. In the first
round of Sunday’s eliminations, he established a new class
ET record of 7.31 seconds on his turbocharged, 463-horsepower
CBR1000RR and went on to win the final in convincing fashion.
In the process, Stotz also set a new personal best top speed for
the Honda liter-bike of 195 miles-per-hour.

“We’re giving up 300cc to our competitors but we’ve
known all year that this kind of performance was possible from
the Honda CBR1000RR,” said Stotz. “We cramming 35
psi of turbo boost into our motor and spinning it to 13,600 rpm
and it’s not even blown a head gasket, thanks to Honda Genuine
Parts. I give credit to Honda’s superb engineering, the
incredible Velocity Racing Turbo Systems package and Star Racing
for designing and building a cylinder head that can win races.”
Stotz also thanked Joe Rocket for outfitting him in all-new CBR-matching
competition leathers and Scorpion EXO for their lightweight, aerodynamic,
well-ventilated and fog-free helmet.
The next stop for Stotz Racing and the HRCA-sponsored Honda CBR1000RR
will occur this weekend, May 5-6, at Milan Dragway in Michigan
for an exhibition of the top Pro Street bikes. Then it’s
on to round four of the AMA/Prostar Championship Series at Memphis
Motorsports Park, June 8-9.
