Stotz Racing to campaign Honda
CBR1000RR in 2006; signs Scorpion as helmet sponsor; launches
new website
January 20, 2006
Stotz Racing announced today that
four-time AMA/Prostar drag racing champion Kent Stotz will campaign
Honda’s liter-class CBR1000RR in the Pro Street class in
2006. The bike will also appear in the NOPI Drag Racing Association
(NDRA) Pro Street Tire Bike class.
“The Honda Rider’s Club of America (HRCA), our primary
sponsor, has given us their most powerful sport bike and asked
us to develop it for drag racing,” said Stotz. “This
will be exciting for our fans because the CBR1000RR is Honda’s
platform for Superbike racing and it is very popular in the marketplace.”
Stotz Racing will continue to race the CBR1100XX on which the
team won two national titles and set numerous records, including
the quickest ET and fastest top speed for the Pro Street class—7.358-seconds
at 196.87 mph—at last year’s AMA/Prostar Drag Racing
National Championship in Gainesville, Fla. The turbocharged, 550-plus
horsepower, 505-pound double-X reeled off an even quicker ET and
top speed at the NOPI World Finals —7.26 seconds at 198
mph—on the way to victory in the HRCA-sponsored Pro Street
Tire Bike class.
The CBR1000RR, Stotz Racing’s newest racing platform, offers
some intriguing possibilities. “While we are giving up 200cc
to the bigger CBR, the rules allow us to reduce the weight by
some 90 pounds,” said Stotz. “Given the durability
of Honda’s engineering, proven on our turbocharged CBR1100XX,
we are confident that the 1000RR will become a contender for the
class title.” Stotz plans to continue development of both
bikes during the 2006 season and will contest each race with the
machine that has the best chance to win.
Stotz also announced the team’s newest sponsor, Scorpion
Helmets. “We are very pleased to add Scorpion to our growing
family of sponsors,” said Stotz. “Their helmets are
top-notch, which is a quality we look for in all of our sponsors.
When you race with the best, everyone is a winner.”
To provide Stotz Racing fans with all the latest information,
Stotz has launched a new website at www.stotzracing.com.
“We are quite proud to showcase our team, our Honda drag
racing bikes, our racing schedule and our sponsors,” said
Stotz. “We also post our latest news and race results on
the site, as well. Everything you want to know about Stotz Racing
is there.”
